Hulsey Wins Second in a Row at Sweet Springs

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – One week after acquiring his first A-Class win, Garrett Hulsey had momentum and confidence to carry into Saturday’s event at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex. When the night was over, the outcome was familiar. The rising star was headed home with the trophy after crafting his second consecutive conquest of the sixth-mile oval.
The weekly event began with Hulsey lining up outside of row two for his heat race. He methodically worked the bottom side of the speedway to pass for the second spot. However, a caution before the lap was complete relegated him back to the third position. Undeterred, Hulsey made the pass in similar fashion to regain second before the checkered flag.
Inverted point average put the Lone Jack, MO youngster eighth on the 30-lap main event grid. By lap 12, Hulsey had attained the second spot by way of precisely maneuvering both the high and low side. Through the caution-filled middle laps of the race, Hulsey made every effort to capture the lead, but couldn’t make his move. A close battle for the point with five laps remaining was briefly put on hold when the treacherous cushion that had built up claimed another victim. Apparent problems arose for the leader, and he exited the speedway shortly after. The lead was given to Hulsey by default; soon, the white flag waved, but the final caution of the race set up a one-lap showdown to complete lap 30. The flagman waved the white and green flags simultaneously, and Hulsey clicked off the final circuit to earn the win.

Hulsey is next scheduled to compete on July 18 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 88G 600cc micro sprint entry.
