SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – Continuing to perform well at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex, Howard Racing Team took one win and another second-place finish on Saturday night. Luke brought home a runner-up finish and Blake matched his brother's win total of three with his score.

In the restrictor division that Luke leads, a common car count of 14 signed in, but just six junior sprints were set for action, including Blake. Both drivers received low numbers in pill draw, started pole position in their respective heat races, and coolly took the preliminary wins.

The high point average for both drivers set them starting nearly last in the main events. Blake hit the track first, starting in fifth. The low car count prompted race officials to shorten the event to just 13 laps, but the younger of the Howard brothers would not be denied. Just four laps in, the Stilwell, Kan. racer was knocking on the door for the lead, and completed his charge on lap six. The lone caution of the event came with three laps to go, erasing a decent margin Howard had built between he and second place. Nevertheless, the No. 5H VooDoo Chassis completed the remaining laps in first and parked his ride in the winner’s circle.

In the 25-lap restrictor feature, “Lightning” Luke started 12th alongside points contender Gunner Ramey. On lap one, Ramey got the advantage and took over sixth, while Luke passed three cars to move to eighth. The pair continued to move forward, nearly matching each other’s progress. After a caution with six in the books, Ramey and Howard restarted nose-to-tail in the third and fourth positions. Ramey took the lead after two more rounds, and Howard moved to second on lap nine. The second and final yellow flag bunched up the field with 11 to go. Howard attempted high and low to maneuver his No. 2 Pace Chassis by the leader, but began to lose ground as the laps clicked away. The win was ultimately out of reach, and Howard settled for second.

In the point standings, Luke maintained his 72-point lead via his heat race victory, while Blake put himself ten more markers ahead of second, expanding his lead to 71.

Howard Racing Team would like to thank Canyon Stone, Cash Kid Digital Studios, Fairfield Motor Sports, Beard Motorsports, Nathan Benson Motorsports, and AdvanTec Dyno Services for their continued support.

Howard Racing Team is next scheduled to compete on August 1 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. with Luke in the No. 2 600cc restricted micro sprint entry, and Blake in the No. 5H junior sprint entry.
