Renfro Dashed by Broken Throttle Cable

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – When a transponder issue cut Braydon Renfro down while leading two weeks ago, he was left hungry for redemption. Unfortunately, more bad luck was to come, as a cut throttle linkage rendered his machine inoperable and forced him out of Saturday night’s event at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex.
Squaring off with 13 other restrictor class entries, Renfro would first see action in the second of two heat race events. Starting from sixth in that ten-lap event, he put on a strong drive to the third position.
The lineup via inverted points average put Renfro’s No. 4 in the ninth starting position. On lap one, he made his move past four competitors to already corral fifth. In just three more laps, he would take over third place. Another three laps passed before the race-ending blow was dealt. When the throttle cable finally gave way, the Yamaha engine quieted to an idle and Renfro coasted to a stop on the front stretch. The driver from Tipton, Mo. would be credited with the 12th finishing position.

Renfro is next scheduled to compete on August 1 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 4 600cc micro sprint entry.
