Sweet Springs 2018 season underway

By Chris Hale (Sweet Springs, MO) -- Even though it was a non points race, SSMC had a very successful opening night. We had a full pit area with cars from 4 states.

Willie Urish started on the pole and ran away from the field in the Winged Outlaw class. Behind Urish, Quinn Jones and Travis Rewerts traded slide jobs with Jones getting the second spot. Garrett Hulsey got around Rewerts for 3rd place.

In the Restrictor class, Braden Knipmeyer took the win with Chase Brown and Xavier Doney rounding out the podium.

Stanley Kreisel got out to a big lead in the Winged A class when bad luck struck and he blew his engine. With Kreisel out of the way, Garrett Hulsey, Tyler Rennison and Chris Koch put on a spirited battle. Hulsey ultimately got the win with Rennison and Koch finishing 2nd and 3rd.

Chase Porter had a big lead in the Non Wing class when he came upon 3 lapped cars racing for position. This allowed Tyler Rennison,Tom Curran and Chris Koch to close in fast. With the excitement of the lapped traffic, Tom Curran passed Tyler Rennison in the final corner for the win. Chris Koch was 3rd with Chase Porter coming in 4th.

Garrett Benson won the Junior class Feature with Fast Freddy Rowland and Levi Hinck on the podium.

Marcus Mendez got a popular win in the Sportsman class with Daryl Perkins and Jeff Ballenger getting 2nd and 3rd. They were the class of a large Sportsman field.

Our points season starts next Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th.
